The restaurant is on the side of the public house that has stood in Pilgrim's Match for centuries. It is easily spotted from the main road, a mile and a half north of Brentwood along the Ongar road, and full off-road parking is provided. The food is described as continental/British, with meat dishes heavily featured and the sweets including favourites like spotted dick and bread-and-butter pudding. The size is cosy without being cramped and the atmosphere professional without being over-formal. Smokers will need to avail themselves of the sofas near the entrance door or adjourn to the pub through the internal door.
