Returned to Glasnost in June 2004 after not having been there for about a year. Things have certainly gone down hill in my view. Whereas previously, the chef was able to cope with seemingly complex dishes with lots of sauces and mediterranean touches, this time chef was struggling with the mixtures. I had a stilton and celery soup which tasted like Heinz, and an artichoke and aubergine in filo pastry. The aubergines were dry, shrivelled and burnt and the artichoke vinegary, and there was more pastry on my plate than I knew what to do with.

The wine selection is limited and basic now, with Chilean Merlots and Cabernet Savignon being the best choice. No burgundies, no beajolais, no bordeaux. In addition, there was no ambience, no music and was definitely a 'no no' for me until things change back. The staff were friendly but had no product knowledge at all.
