slipping standards? As a regular diner under the leadership of Alan Walton I feel justified in saying that since the family's departure standards have slipped considerably. Long gone is the constantly rotating menu, i went twice in 4 months and found no significant changes. I was not offered bread, for which the white horse used to be famed for its interestingly flavoured home made loaves.Cooking times seemed considerably slower than previously and the re introduction of smoking in the bar was a sore disappointment. For a pub that once had such a clear vision it seems that the White Horse has lost it's sense of direction. However, the food is still very palatable and the rack of lamb is a definite recommendation. [18 Jun 2006 12:22:22]

Very Good Since I have been back to the pub there have been some changes the is pub is cleaner and fresher looking than before. We sat in the restaurant which is completely none smoking and bread was produced to us which i believe was apricot and walnut bread. [06 Oct 2006 07:30:14]

cold On our two visits , one in spring of 2007 and more recently December 2007, we found the restaurant to be extreemely cold - we had to sit in our coats, as did other diners at the time. Requests for heating to be turned up were ignored. The food was wonderful, beautifull presented and well cooked. However the waiting staff were surly, and although we were offered wonderful bread, the reviewer above who did not recieve any should look at blaming the waiting staff. The bread was wonderful and home made. As I understand it, the chef has not changed with the owners, but was kept on. The only change is the owner - what does that tell you! [10 Jan 2008 09:20:37]
