Having visited Cafe Rouge Hertford several times I would like to say that I think that the service is wonderful, due to polite and courteous staff. Food was well prepared and arrived quickly and although the restaurant menu was limited, there was an excellent range of specials to choose from.    [04 Mar 2000 19:04:26]

Cafe Rouge - Appalling service
I visited the Cafe Rouge in Greenwich and was appalled by the service. We ordered our food and drinks fairly quickly and received our drinks. However after 20 minutes we still hadn't received our meal. After a further 10 minutes I tried to speak to the waitress. She purposefully avoided our table as she didn't want to deal with any confrontation. Eventually I caught her eye and managed to speak to her. Her explanation for the delay was because we had ordered our steak well done so it took longer. Of course this is a load of rubbish, it doesn't take 30 minutes to cook a steak. So we waited another 15 minutes and ordered some more drinks to go with the meal. After this time we decided to leave, this was a task in itself. We informed a waitress that we wished to pay for our drinks and leave and she said she would get our waitress, she did not come over to see us so in the end we had to go to the till and pay direct, this wasted another 5 minutes of our day. They did not even tell us that our dinner was on its way or even apologise. After 45 minutes we should have eaten and be ready to leave!!!! Also the drinks we ordered to go with our meal because they kept us waiting so long, we didn't even touch and they had the audacity to charge us for them!!!!I would not advise anyone to go to the Greenwich restaurant and I certainly won't be going to any of their restaurants again.    [29 Oct 2001 08:51:50]

I am an Au pair from Switzerland and we very often go to Cafe Rouge. We love the ambience and the hot chocolate!
But the boss is very rude to us, she ignores us and is arrogant. the other waitresses are very nice and friendly but sometimes we think we shouldn't go there.    [23 Jan 2004 16:03:27]

I loved every minute of my time spent here. The service was fantastic, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was cozy and friendly.
