I love banquets! I've been to Chungs twice now, both times we ate from the banquet menu, where we shared an array of dishes from across the board.
Both times the food was of a high standard, and the atmosphere was very pleasant, with the decor nicely unimposing.
The service was excellent, and the price was reasonable given the quality of the food. (As with any good Chinese restaurant, its going to cost you more than £20 a head with drinks.)
The first time I went, Mark Crossley (Nottingham Forest Goalkeeper) was eating out with his partner(*) at an adjacent table. So the local VIPs obviously rate it too..
I have never booked in advance, but you would be well advised to at the weekend.
Highly recommended
(*) who I note was considerably more attractive than him ;) [01 Jul 2000 20:37:54]

Great place It's the first Chinese restaurant I went to when I first came to Nottingham for university. As being a Chinese myself, I guess I can make the right judgement :D nice food, for sure, and it's proper Chinese food! Head chefs are from Hongkong I think, and the waiters are really friendly. It costs a bit more, but hey, I wasn't the one paying for the bill, so I'd strongly recommond it!! ;) [30 Apr 2002 22:34:00]

Best in town I have been dining at Chungs with my family for nearly 20 years and it is without a doubt the finest Chinese restaurant in Nottingham.
The food is consistently delicious, the atmosphere welcoming and the staff are friendly but unobtrusive, efficient, and responsive.
It isn't the cheapest in town but probably the best value for money. There are some other very swanky and expensive Chinese restaurants in Nottingham but compared to Chungs they are overpriced and unremarkable.
Try and check out their Chinese New Year parties - great fun! [02 Mar 2006 08:32:51]
