Amazing! This place is a hidden jewel. I've eaten here twice while visiting a friend in Scarborough and both times the food has been exquisite.
The first occasion I was invited along with a friend from university as part of a business meeting with some Americans.
Food was served in a banquet style rotating dish arrangement, with different carved sculptures from vegetables for each meal.
We had numerous courses, including a huge mound of lobster the chef threw in because my friend's dad knew the owner (I don't even like fish, but I ate this and enjoyed it).
The second occasion was last year, when I went up to Scarborough to visit the same friend. Again we ate a banquet, this time with substantial quantities of Tsingtao beer. It came to £180 for 6 of us, but we'd eaten mounds of food, and had about 6 cans of chinese beer a piece - so it was a veritable bargain!
The chef again threw in a special, this time a chicken dish, which to this day is the nicest thing I have ever eaten in any Chinese restaurant (and I eat out a lot on expenses).
I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough! [02 Jul 2000 11:28:55]

Poor I didnt like this restaurant as the dishes were lacking flavour, the service was bad as I found them very inpolite. I would very strongly not recommend this place. [20 Apr 2003 09:51:42]

Great Food, Bad Service The food in the Hong Kong is excellent, and is served in a generous portion. The American Chow Mein was especially good, and followed by banana fritters in crisp batter, I could not complain about anything I ate, but the service is an exception. The waiters rush diners, clearing their tables for the next customer literally as soon as you put your fork down after swallowing your last mouthful. So keen were they to hustle customers out, that is is not unknown for bottles of wine to be removed before you have had chance to finish drinking it! The food here is good, but you will leave with severe indigestion owing to not having had a chance to sit and digest it before being cleared out. [26 Jan 2004 08:19:32]

Beautiful As a local Scarborian, I have visited this restaurant on many occasions, and have never been let down. The lunch time menu is perfect for those who want a change from a sandwich, and the service is so efficient you can easily squeeze it into your lunch hour, for a very reasonable price.
Evening meals are also delicious and reasonably priced. I have never had any complaints with this restaurant, particularly not the service and believe the previous review is unjustified. [25 Mar 2004 17:19:02]
