Great value pub grub.
This is not haute cuisine, it is good pub grub. Portions are generous and very good value for money. Being near to the University means that students form a large percentage of the customers. Can be very busy during weekend lunchtimes. [26 Jan 2001 12:05:36]

Good value pub food
Good value pub food in generous portions complement a selection of well-kept real ales (6X, Archers, Strongs and London Pride).
The menu and the specials board haven't really changed over the past few years (they've introduced a smaller plate of nachos alongside the original mountain); while a bit of variety would be welcome, this doesn't detract from the food on offer.

My Local
The menu hasn't changed in over 3 years and the beer is ok and the hoegaarden is nice. I wish to see the specials changed and more variety and, as a chef myself, it lacks some good ideas on the specials boards. [12 Aug 2003 10:08:12]

Haven't been to this pub for quite some time so thought I'd come here with a few mates from work only to find the prices have risen! Well, this came as a shock but luckily they have not sky rocketed and all is well. Great service. Very friendly bar-staff. Food is lovely. Nice to see the specials board has finally changed.
