Student Review By far and away the best restaurant in Southampton, the Olive Tree has a fantastic, though not inexpensive, Mediteranean menu. Great specials, charming staff and decor that's just the right side of cool back up the food.
Even on Oxford St, which has many, many good places to eat, the Olive Tree stands out. Definitely worth a visit, though if you're a student, I'd recommend sticking to the lunchtime menu as the specials are expensive. [31 Jan 2004 14:16:16]

will not go back The restaurant had great atmosphere and the staff were friendly. However, althought the starters were average, the main courses proved to be very poor - with all the effort put into the presentation...my main of leek and feta in a filo pastry with sweet potatoes was bland and tasteless and was far to sweet. The same for the paella, my frineds was pretty much left untouched, with it also being flavourless. It wasnt cheap working out to almost £20 each - without alcohol - too much to pay for bad food in my opinion!surrounding restaurants such as prezzo and pizza express are much more appetising!
