Not for Xmas parties! Probably a very nice restaurant usually but did not appear to be gearded to Xmas parties. Our group was moved twice, put in a cramped corner, had food dropped on jackets, indifferent (and sometimes rude) service, and to top it all the food was also indifferent (some said it was pretty awful!)
Having said this I have heard good reports at other times - perhaps a venue for intimate couples but not large groups? [17 Feb 2002 18:45:53]

A pleasant surprise on short notice We tried antipasto and steak with pepper sauce and chips. We also had lager shandy and the house red.
The presentation was very simple and unfussy which I liked. There wasn't a huge portion of antipasto even though we said we were going to share, but it was all very nice and the olives were clearly sourced fresh from the continent. The steak was cooked to our requirements and was exceptionally good, although the pepper sauce was a little bit over peppery at first but that soon died down once I was used to it. The red wine made the meal for me, I'd drank one glass before we'd finished the starter without even realising it.
The restaurant was very busy because the Network Q rally was in town, but they were polite and tried to fit us in without reservations, for which the service was a little confused but they did find us a seat within about 5 minutes.
The restaurant was clean and had a distinctive italian feel, although not as laid back as I would usually expect, but as I said earlier they were extremely busy even at 11:30pm.
The meal was ~ £42 for two courses with drinks and the food quality made this good value for money. I would definitely go again when I'm next in Cardiff and also recommend it to my friends. [16 Nov 2002 10:54:15]

Expensive extras We've been to this restaurant twice. Don't have a table under the stairs as the clumping waiters will drown out your conversation as they run up and down to the kitchen. Don't have the extras, as they make the bill stupid. The staff seem pressured and don't give very good personal service, apart from the older Italian man who is frankly annoying. The food is nice, but watch out for the prices. We had an OK meal for 2 for £52 - way over the top. Bread was described as "basket of home-made bread" but was three big slices from the local bakery - for £1.75. WE went in both times because we couldn't get in to our first choices. AVOID. We felt like a nuisance. Food was good but not value for money. Spoilt our day out. [11 May 2003 17:12:59]

dissapointment The pasta dishes were served lukewarm. it was reheated and served on different plates. There were bits of spaghetti in with the penne pasta, however according to the waiter 'its all pasta!' Also we were given a bill for 6 when there were only 4 of us there. Even when this error was pointed out the waiter still tried to argue we had had drinks which we most clearly hadn't. [07 Nov 2004 12:50:04]
