Finally Marinara meets Alfredo Evangelo had the guts to mix two of my Italian favorites, Marinara and Alfredo! The canneloni was perfectly tender and what a wonderful surprise to find that mixture on it! The service was absolutely seamless, charming and prompt. She watched our courses and timed them to perfection! If I go back to Alaska I will go back to Evangelo's! Bravo Evangelo! [08 Sep 2003 18:45:10]

The Only Elegant Restaurant in the Valley Evangelo created the classiest place to eat in the Mat-Su valley, the food, service, and ambiance beats everyone else. Excellent, excellent, excellent! [30 Oct 2003 02:57:52]

Evangelo Disappointing - I'd Rather Go to McD Evangelo was very close to my hotel, great environment, food was sadly disappointing. Every time I go to Alaska I live for the halibut this time of year. It was the worst I've ever had here - side dishes were good, main course was awful. I left it all on the plate, and the wait staff didn't comment (are they used to this?). [25 Jun 2004 23:34:18]

Service Is Bad, Food Is Not What I Expected My husband and I had heard good things so we tried Evangelo's (Should have known better since people in the valley consider this a "fancy" restaurant). It took us a long time to get waited on and when I did get a glass of wine, the rim had a very large, obvious chip in it. It took the waitress 10 minutes to come back and check on us. when I told her my glass was chipped, she seemed quite put-out to have to get me a new glass of wine. From then on, we had bad service all night.
My husband had to get up and go find her once because it took so long. For the food, she recommended "the special" which was Cajun chicken au gratin. It was simply chunks of chicken meat and mushroom with Cajun seasoning and separated, greasy cheese melted over the top. It was more cheese than anything else. Not good at all!
I know lots of people who think this place is as good as it gets, but I guess those people don't get out much. I wouldn't recommend it, because it's not great but the prices are still high. [23 Sep 2006 14:25:48]
