Mind Blowing
Eat at this establishment immediately. The rustic yet contemporary decor makes for a good place to kick back and savor what is to come. I wound up in a hotel next to this restaurant on a business trip. I had the lamb gyro. Throw the rule book out the window folks, this place will blow your mind. Thick slices of lamb cooked to perfection with grilled sweet onions, lettuce, tomatoes and Taziki sauce wrapped neatly so you don't make a mess. After you take your first bite, take a moment to thank your God for finding this place. I'd take a date to this place. I'd take my Mom to this place. wonderful, local, addictive...
We became addicted to Taziki's at the Colonnade years ago when we lived in Inverness, and now I stop at one of their locations every time I get a chance when in b'ham.

The food at Taziki's is consistently good, the service is friendly (though this is not fully a table-service establishment), and you will be recognized and welcomed by the owners if you are a regular.

The Colonnade location is set up to encourage lingering, with Edgar's Bakery on one side and Pablo's Mexican (also very good) on the other. the outdoor eating area kind of spills into the front areas of the other two restaurants, and it's very informal.

My only complaint on the setting is that the place closes too early - it would make a nice low-key eatery for later hours.

I have no recommendations on the food, because it really has all been very good. I usually get whatever special they're running. the lemon chicken soup, as well as a simle side of rice (so lemony!) is also great.    [15 Feb 2007 17:00:44]
