Best Food Ever The ambiance at this restaurant is the absolute best. As the classics of Shakespeare surround you on the wall, one gets the feeling that this is no ordinary restaurant. And indeed it is not. The service is impeccable, the wine selection supreme, and even the menu matches the theme of the restaurant (all of the titles of the dishes come from Shakespeare).
The best part is the food. You can not get a better steak anywhere. The Salmon Caliban will rock your face off and tortellini in cream sauce will make any child want to eat broccoli and cauliflower every day of the week. Save room though because the desserts are unmitigated deliciousness. The creme brulee cheesecake -- I don't even know how to describe it. Just get it. [28 Apr 2004 13:24:45]

What Dreams Are Made of What gets me through January in Vermont without Prozac is the anticipation of a Globe grilled cheese, a Heineken with a side of chili and a dollop of sour cream on top. Fifth winter in Tuscaloosa begins next week. [25 Jan 2005 09:55:08]

Not fair to children I went to The Globe with a school group and tried to explain that most of the children did not have a lot of money and that each child was paying individually. The hostess told me that the 18% gratuity would still apply due to the group size. Although most of the group was actually divided into smaller groups, we were told that it did not matter. Each child would be charged 18% gratuity. Due to this fact, the restaurant turned down 20 paying customers who would have been happy to pay at least 10% gratuity and eat a good lunch. Instead we ate a great lunch somewhere else at a much more reasonable price and much friendlier atmosphere for our group. [21 Oct 2005 21:25:20]

Kicky and Scrumptous This signature dish is a splendid blend of cream, curry and spicy spices that intensifies the flavor of shrimp and accompanying vegetables. From the moment you experience this dish, you will never be tempted by any other item on the menu. [27 Feb 2006 16:56:02]

AWESOME! I've enjoyed a few meals at The Globe with some friends that work there, and I cannot tell you how wonderful the food is. However, it may be somewhat pricey, one is definitely paying for the environment and service. The atmosphere there is VERY friendly and VERY interesting. A touch of sophistication combined with great southern hospitality truly make this dining experience a pleasurable one. I enjoyed it so much, I'm seeking employment there in hopes that I can continue to see the excellence this restaurant has to offer. A "must-eat" place when visiting Tuscaloosa/Northport! TERRIFIC WINE SELECTION!!! [16 Aug 2006 14:59:42]

The Globe The Globe is one of the best restaurants in the Tuscaloosa area. Located in scenic downtown Northport, this restaurant features a Shakespearean theme, right down to the restrooms. It is a wonderful break from the norm as far as restaurants go. The food is moderately priced. I have tried several dishes, from the appetizers to sandwiches to the salmon. I have never been disappointed: the flavor is always excellent without being overwhelming. Go for lunch on a sunny day and be seated outside where you can get a view of the quaint town of Northport. If you do, I recommend getting a sandwich and having a friend get a different one - then splitting. Lunch is very affordable and absolutely delicious. [27 Dec 2006 10:52:13]

The Best All Around in T-Town My wife and I are at The Globe so much we are almost considered employees. We love the atmosphere, always get great service. But the food is what sets The Globe apart. The steaks and fish are great, and the Thai Emerald Curry is outstanding. What most people don't know is that The Globe also has the best ribs in town (very meaty, very tender and flavorful) as well as the best hamburger I have ever tasted. Add to that the best wine list in town BY FAR and you can see why The Globe is one of only two restaurants in the state (the other being Highlands Bar & Grill in Birmingham) to win the coveted DiRona award. I will be visiting Tuscaloosa for a new nephews Christening. However the first stop will be The Globe. I now live in Baltimore but spent 30 years in Tuscaloosa. My wife and I ate lunch there when it opened and we were just dating after we got married it was "our" restaurant. Even in Baltimore we cannot find anything that comes close to the service, ambiance, and quality of food. Hands down best dish I have ever eaten anywhere Thai Emerald Curry! [09 Feb 2009 18:09:36]
