Just a bad day?
Four of us went to have drinks and sandwiches. We got there at 7:00 pm on Saturday night. There was an average crowd, not abnormally busy. It was 8:40 before we got any food. (The waitress said it was because they had 2 of their 4 ovens not working). When we did, one of the frosted mugs the waitress brought had a cigarette put out inside it. The waitress apologized and brought another. Also, one of the sandwiches was supposed to be a whole Rueben and they brought what they said was a half Rueben, but looked much smaller, like 3 bites. When we said it was supposed to be a whole sandwich, they said they would get that. About 20 minutes later they brought another sandwich but it wasn't with the normal bread and only had corn beef and cheese, no sauerkraut. Then the manager came to our table and asked if everything was ok. We informed her of the long wait. She said it was because they were busier than normal (didn't look like it). We also told her the sandwich didn't have sauerkraut like it was supposed to. She says "yes it does, it has sauerkraut." (very defensively and walks off). The waitress then came back and asked if we needed anything else. We opened the rueben and asked her if there was any sauerkraut on the sandwich. She said no, and appoligized again.
Maybe they were just having an off night. Everybody does at some time or another but the main things that really stood out that wouldn't fall in that category: 1)frosted mug that just had a cigarette put out into it being delivered to our table. 2) when the manager was informed the sandwich had no sauerkraut, she informed us it did without bothering to look inside the sandwich her self to see that it did not. It seemed like very strange behavior to us. With the hour and 40 minute wait added to the other problems, it is not a place I would recommend unless they come up with better management.
As far as the food, it was ok, not bad but nothing special.    [07 Mar 2004 11:13:54]

I eat at this place twice a week and have never had a problem with wait staff, cig butts or long wait time. They have a sign at the front door advising that most Pies take at least 30. Who times how ling it take to have a meal out having fun anyway, ANON    [02 Oct 2008 18:51:59]
