Bad Dining to add to Bad week! Monday 12-15-2003, my whole family was returning from my sister's funeral. There were nine of the members at one table, that had arrived 30 mins earlier than the other group of seven. We ordered appetizers and our meals before the others in our group arrived. We received our appetizers and the other group received theirs, then they received their food and we still had not received ours, 2 hrs passed and I asked the manager about our food and he said we were following a group of thirty people. I explained the others had received their food and they came in behind us. Then he said that we ordered appetizers and the other group had not, which was not true! Well after we complained we got our food and it was awful. My uncle complained about his ribs and they refunded his money. My wife said her roast beef sandwich was dry and the bread stale, my steak was not done. We just got up and paid our bill and left angry, then to my astonishment they charged gratuity on that mess. No apologies just excuses. [19 Dec 2003 16:27:11]

Second Bad Dining Here The first time my wife and I went here we had bad food, slow service, and vowed never to return. Well, we got invited to go out to eat with two other couples in our Sunday School class, and we decided to give it another try. As it turns out, the couples we were with are great and the conversation rolled throughout the night. We had plenty of time of converse because the waitress did not even take our order for 40 minutes after we all seated. I drink a lot of Dr. Pepper when I am out to eat, and I had to wait over and over for the waitress to fill the little bitty glass they serve the drinks in. The oysters were tiny, and when we finally got our food they gave me the wrong thing. I was with "new friends" and did not want to appear like a jerk so I let everyhing slide and was just going to tip the waitress a penny. When she handed me the bill I saw the 15% gratuity already tacked on the price. I laughed out load and probably looked like a cheap ass in front of people I hardly know. The next time I am invited to Cattleman's (even if it's with Pres. Bush) I will suggest a different or better restaurant..a McDonald perhaps. [13 Feb 2005 10:35:05]

I have been eating there all my life... Sorry about your bad experience but they get so packed and sometimes confused but other than that, the food is excellent! I have practically eaten everything there is on the menu except the oysters and other seafood, and I find everything rather mouth-watering! Especially the twice baked potatoes and the homemade soups by Calico! Y'all don't know what y'all are missing! By the way...I am the owner's daughter! [10 Aug 2006 02:47:10]

I ate there and enjoyed it After driving from San Marcus Texas to Texarkana, I found the food and the staff to be a welcome relief. I saw that the parking lot was busy so I thought it would be a good place to eat. Many others had reservations but the hostess said she would seat us if we waited. I am glad we did. We enjoyed Shrimp Cocktail, Steak and Fish. I look forward to eating there again. It will be my first choice in Texarkana. [24 Aug 2006 19:04:27]
