Great place to eat and have a few drinks Kirkland Bar and Steakhouse is such a neat place to go. Reminds me of my old ranching days. The owners Barb and Herb are very nice people. I love their western decor. My families favorite breakfast dish is fried eggs over enchiladas. Dinner, they have the best lobster in the state of AZ. The steaks are always fresh and very tender. Every chance we get to go up there we never fail to stop and eat and say hello to the owners. This place is just a down to earth place, nothing fancy but the staff makes up for it. I highly recommend it for a night out of music and food. [23 May 2002 10:14:47]

Horrific As Phoenix valley locals, my husband and I are no strangers to Western saloons and small out-of-the-way bars. We are huge fans of the old fashioned historic saloons. BUT, this encounter set us back a bit.
When we entered the Kirkland Bar and Steakhouse we thought it was historically charming and festive. We walked over to the bar and waited and waited and waited. We then walked around to the other side and found the lady bartender. I specifically asked her if she accepted credit cards. She said "yes, no problem, but no tabs". I said thank you, placed and paid for our order. We enjoyed the small crowd and great country music from the juke box. I politely asked for another round and handed her my credit card. She rolled her eyes looked at me and said "I can't be doing this all night". Then she looked at the man sitting next to us (another patron) and said so we could hear "I could have waited on 6 people by the time I run a credit card, I hate these damn credit cards" (there weren't even 6 people to wait on total). Keep in mind when I settled the first round I tipped $2 on a $5 tab and had every intention of doing the same or more going forward. So we left and I didn't even finish my drink because we felt so unwelcome. Only saloon in Arizona I have ever EVER been treated rudely. A real shame considering the potential of this neat historic bit of Old West. [08 Oct 2006 00:06:00]

Terrific Howdy! Went with a group of five here for the first time. I read the above reviews before heading out. I wasn't sure what to expect. We were all delighted with the atmosphere, service, food and entertainment. Although this establishment apparently would rather not deal with credit cards, we paid cash and evryone was happy!
