Reliable and Reasonable
We've been eating here for many years, and have never had a poor meal. I almost always get the spanakopita, which is great.

Pleasant dining room, good service, reasonable prices. Nice place.    [23 Jan 2004 16:59:48]

Good Greek
Being our Thursday night out, we decided to try out Athens on 4th Avenue, by stopping in for dinner. Arriving a bit past 6pm, we were probably the second or third couple of the night; hence we had no trouble getting a nice table situated right next to a window.

Looking over the menu, we noticed that they had the traditional Greek dishes: spanikopita, dolmothes, moussaka, pastichio, and a few other dishes, such as halibut, that aren't normally associated with Greek cuisine.

Being vegetarians, our choices were somewhat limited, and so we decided on spanikopita and grilled eggplant. Since the eggplant normally comes with rice pilaf that has a meat based sauce, the waitress immediately offered up a couple of alternate sides, and I choose the roasted potatoes.

Dinner arrived fairly quickly, and overall was quite good. The grilled eggplant seemed like the Greek equivalent of eggplant parmesan: grilled eggplant slices covered in a tomato sauce and topped with a Greek cheese.

The spanikopita was also good and it was a respectable portion, but the spinach filling had a bit too many grape leaves for one of us. They other doesn't mind the grape leaf flavor, and so thought it was quite good, but not not distinctly different that any other restaurants version of spanikopita.

Both of us had the roasted potatoes as the side, and while they could have been just a touch warmer, they too were good.

With both of us completely clearing our plates, we went dessert-less that night, but the desserts did sound good.

Overall, everything was good, and we will probably head back down to Athens to get our next fix of Greek food.    [18 Nov 2005 14:23:54]

A Jewel in Tucson
This is the best place ever! I travel to Tucson with my company to Tucson for jewelry shows and everytime we are here we call for 5 reservations.

We love the atmosphere, the food is superb, the wine is fantastic, and the chef/owner is a sweetheart.

Can't wait for next year!    [03 Feb 2007 18:46:08]
