Worth a trip downtown.
As many know, Thursday is our day to head downtown, get drinks, dinner, and a movie. And one recent Thursday, we were discussing new places we could try and we realized that we had never tried Barrio Grill. This was something that had to be remedied, so we hied ourselves over to 6th Ave and settled into a comfortable booth.

After examining the menu and discussing our dietary habits (we're vegetarians) with the waitress, we settled on a salad with mixed fruit, and a portabello, green pepper and tomato pasta (normally it comes with grilled Italian sausage, but all pasta dishes can be made meatless).

The salad was huge, and was easily a meal by itself. The fruit included raspberries, blackberries, pineapple, in a coconut vinegerette. Quite good.

The pasta, being a full entree was even larger, and also was very good.

For dessert, one of us ordered the Creme Brulee, the other a chocolate tart. Both were good, but not the best desserts that we've had (we've tried desserts at a lot of places so it's hard to get into our "great dessert" category).

After all that, we headed out for the movie, but the rains came and the outdoor movie was cancelled. But, having stopped at Barrio Grill made the evening a winner.    [07 Sep 2005 23:14:57]
