Wow! You better be hungry. On the weekend of the Fourth Avenue fair we stopped in with the hope of getting a small bite to eat. The place was practically jammed to the rafters, but even so, we were able to get a booth with nary a wait.
For lunch, we quickly looked through to find the only vegetarian sandwich, which we both ordered (we are both vegetarians). We each ordered on dark rye and asked to have 'em toasted. Given how crowded they were, the sandwiches came out in about 10 minutes or so. And they were huge.
Imagine two slices of bread about an inch thick, and then about 10 by 5 inches across, and you'll get some idea of how larges these sandwiches are. And as requested, lightly toasted. The sandwiches weren't just bread, either. Each was filled side to side with cheese, avocado, sprouts, and so on. Wow, we could barely eat it all.
The service was prompt and friendly. I would say that our only complaint was the noise. It is quite loud inside Bison Witches, but if you want a sandwich that'll keep you full all day, this is the place.
Cost: The veggie sandwich with chips was $6.50, a soda with free refills $2. [10 Dec 2006 12:04:14]
