Description

Owned by Dan Chang and Kim Truong. With the first taste of a Mandarin Express dish, diners and restaurant critics alike have become and remained loyal over the past two decades.

Master Chef Dan Chang offers a unique "Chinese Fusion," which combines the tastes of the many provinces of Chinese with Vietnamese, Thai, Indian, French, and American cuisines. Dan Chang's specialty is found in his blend of spices and seasonings, which he carefully selects to bring out the ultimate flavor in his culinary masterpieces such as Honey Mustard Shrimp.

Great, Fresh Food with Vegetarian Alternatives
This menu is amazing! Every meat item on the regular menu can be substituted by a vegan alternative, and the food tastes great also. The price is moderate, and quick service. Worth the money, especially if you don't eat meat.    [19 Nov 2003 20:40:36]

Chef Chang is the best just like the food !!!!
Dan and Kim (Kim alone is worth the trip to restaurant)run the cleanest coolest Chinese restaurant I've even been in. Everything is fresh and Chef Dan (or Chang if you want) will cook it your way. Special needs? Atkins? Low salt? No problem. I knew it was a good place when I saw what the Chef was doing during a break, reading a cook book!!    [05 Apr 2004 18:19:35]

Great Find
An unassuming place but what a find. Top quality food with fast friendly service. Well worth the money for gourmet caliber food. Expansive menu has the regular Chinese fare plus many euro-asian fusion dishes.    [13 Apr 2004 00:16:37]

Food and Service Definitely Worth a Try!
I have been a customer of Mandarin Express for a few years. The food is fabulous! There are many items to choose from for vegetarian and non-vegetarians palates. The food is always hot and delicious. Moreover, the service is unsurpassed by any other service I have received in quite some time. The customers are always pleasantly greeted and made to feel at home. Regulars are always greeted by their first name with and a cheery “hello.” But whether you are a regular or not, all customers are treated with equal courtesy and respect.

The food is great, the portions are very generous, and the service is outstanding!    [16 Apr 2004 10:26:30]

The Best Chinese Food in the Conejo Area
Kim and Dan have developed this small restaurant into a regional favorite, frequented by local celebrities whose pictures adorn the walls. Much of their business is take-out, but Dan loves to create dishes that look simply beautiful when eaten in the small dining area. Best of all, the menu is huge, he creates new specialties regularly, and the food is prepared in a spotlessly clean kitchen. Vegetarian dishes abound.    [22 Apr 2004 22:34:27]

Ask for the specials
This is my favorite takeout restaurant. The menu is very good, but better yet is ordering something off-menu like venison, alligator, or a variety of seafood dishes. These meals tend to be a bit pricier than the menu items, but they're like having a chef in your kitchen cooking up a unique dish every time. I've never been disappointed with a meal from Mandarin Express.    [29 Apr 2004 10:28:33]

Home away from home
Years ago while working in Agoura Hills I discovered Mandarin Express. It was hard to find, tucked in behind the Cheveron station on Kanan road, but well worth the search. The food was fantastic and Dan always cooked each meal to my particular taste. Never too spicy, but always hot with the freshest ingrediants. The service is great. Kim always remembers my name and how I like my food. Now every time I come to the southern California area I always stop by for the food and hospitality. The trees have grown up in the parking lot and it is hard to find, but I always stop by. The seafood is my favorite, but Dan's Kelsey Grammer's Orange Chicken is dynamite too.    [27 Oct 2004 19:43:34]

Mandarin Express is simply the Best Chinese Food in Los Angeles outside of Chinatown!
I've been a regular customer since 2002 enjoying their selection of unique Chinese dishes with a fusion flair, adding French, Mongolian, Vietnamese Italian and other regional influences by the skilled hand of Chef Dan Chang. On the walls you can see a selection of celebrities who have all been enjoying the creations from this unique out of the way spot for years. Such notables as Kelsey Grammer have a special dish named after him (Kelsey Grammer's Orange Chicken). Chef Dan is always willing to try new things to satisfy special requests, so if you want to try a different sauce or have special diet needs like no sugar or low carb you can still find dishes you can enjoy. They even have specialty dishes that can be prepared with exotic meat like Aligator meat. Every dish is prepared specially by the hands of master Chef Dan Chang who has graduated from a host of culinary schools. The service is always spectacular and personal and what's more Co-owner Kim will always remember your name! I highly recommend this spot to anyone who is a fan of Chinese food or just great food in general!    [13 Oct 2005 15:03:36]

Come Back Again and Again.
I am a consultant on the road. I worked in this area 3 years ago and discovered this gem. I recently came back after 3 years and Kim remembered my name...that's the kind of place this is. The food is nothing like I've ever tasted before. I bring everyone I know there. If you like sweet, the Kelsey Grammar Orange Peel Chicken is amazing.    [21 Jul 2006 12:00:58]
