Why this place is still in business, I don't know
We moved to AV a few years ago and this is one of the first restaurants we tried. We were looking for good Chinese & were spoiled because we used to live right near Little Saigon, where there are some really great Chinese places.

We were sorely disappointed with Jade Palace. The decor was straight out of the '80s (think pink and mint green). They have a nice fish tank at the entrance and the place is fairly clean. Those are about the only good things I can think of. The food was less than mediocre. I've had better Chinese food at the mall. We ordered Bhudda's Feast- supposed to be fresh steamed veggies in a light white sauce. Here it was a handful of over-cooked snowpeas, carrots, too many water chestnuts, and some broccoli, smothered in an overly-thickened cornstarch-y sauce. Absolutely not taste whatsoever. The other food we ordered wasn't much better. Mostly tasteless and often overcooked. The only good thing about the food was that it was warm.

The service was fine, but we haven't been back since because the food itself was so lackluster.    [07 Jan 2007 20:22:23]
