It was a great pleasure to discover a Mediterranean restaurant in a small town like Arcata. The food was one of the best of its kind that I have ever tested. [28 Dec 2003 15:45:52]

We drove all the way from Grants Pass, OR to go to "Kebab Cafe". We love it. The food is exceptional. The owners are delightful and the servers are wonderful. The kitchen area is immaculate. We definitely will come back. [30 Mar 2007 21:40:45]

Not Bad at All! I had been wanting to try Kebab Cafe for years. This time I was in Arcata on my birthday, so I managed to drag my wife and mother-in-law in to try it. We were quite impressed with the food.
Considering that Kebab House probably has no competition between Santa Rosa, CA and Eugene, OR (unless you count Pilaf in Ashland, OR), they are probably a lot better than they would "have" to be to survive. Their food is better than half of the Greek/Turkish/Arabic restaurants in the SF Bay Area.
We ordered mezze-type combinations, a vegetarian kebab skewer and french fries. Everything was tasty and fresh, especially the deep-fried halloumi cheese.
Two comments: 1) The platters appear to be a better deal than the appetizers. 2) I wish Kebab Cafe and other ethnic restaurants would play mellower traditional music for our dining pleasure, rather than pounding-beat pop.
I will definately return! [29 May 2007 15:40:57]
