Unique burger joint & deli mart
Ikeda's is renowned as a great stop for Bay Area travelers on their way to or from Lake Tahoe. It's a come-as-you-are place, where you place your order at a counter and they call your number when the food is ready.

Fare is pretty basic: burgers, fries, and drinks are the staples. There are also options for rice bowls, and the deli-mart next door has a zillion different made-on-the-premises salsas/chutneys, and some unique foods from independent (and not-so-independent) vendors throughout the Gold Country and Northern California.

The burgers are very high quality, and you'll pay for it. The fries are also done right. This may have fast food offerings, but it's not fast food quality, it's much better.    [14 Feb 2005 02:49:51]

It's a Gold Mine!
I live nearby and am always amazed at how much business they do. Their prices are reasonable on a few produce items but, for the most part, they are sky high. Their burgers are quite acceptable but certainly nothing special.    [06 Nov 2007 14:59:51]
