What a disappointment.
My wife And I arrived for dinner on Saturday evening at approx 6:30 PM. The lobby was full of people, and some were even waiting outside. We were informed it would be approx 45 minutes until we could be seated. We agreed to wait, and went to the bar for drinks. While waiting, we noticed the hostesses cominig into the bar area and calling names, so we didn't worry about not hearing our name. The second time the hostess came in calling for a John, I asked her if she was sure the name wasn't Johnson. She assured me it was just plain John. After an hour and ten minute wait, we asked another hostess how much longer it would be. She left, and returned to say we would be seated at the next available table. The look on her face told the whole story. We had been skipped over. She tried very hard to make up for it, even cleaning our table herself. This was highly appreciated. Upon being seated, we waited for another 15 minutes for a waitress to appear. When she finally showed up, she took our drink order and rushed off before we could tell her we were ready to order! Another 15 minutes passed before she brought our drinks, and finally decided to ask what we wanted to eat. Dinner was served in a reasonable amount of time, but was nothing like what the menu described. Our 7 oz. filets were no more then 4 oz. And if that was prime beef, I'll stick to choice cuts, thank you. It was both tough and overcooked. In summary, I have to say this was about the poorest meal I have ever experienced in a supposedly upscale restaurant. I won't be going back, and I will not recommend it to my friends.    [10 Mar 2003 16:25:13]

I have dined there frequently, and found the service, and quality of the meal to be upper drawer....

Mediocre
I like in Bakersfield and eat at Stuart Anderson's regularly due to its proximity to my office. The food is good, not great, just good. But the service is rather hit or miss and in my experience is usually a miss. We have waited too long, too many times, and had very slow service. The servers are always very nice, but it is always slow. Not recommended if you're in a hurry. Reservations are a big bonus and they are one of the few restaurants left that accept them!    [16 Apr 2007 14:06:25]
