Horrible Food 8/17/04 This is the third time I have tried Gramma's and have found it to be inferior. We had the Phily Steak Sandwich and it was dry and tasted like freezer burn. The coffee was cold and bitter. We were really disappointed because it used to be such a good place to eat in the 1980s and '90s but has gone totally downhill. When we sent our food back the manager said she would fix the bill for us and only charge us for the salad which came with the meal since we had eaten the salad. The amount she charged us for the two salads was equal to the price of the two dinners. We left hungry, with a horrible aftertaste in our mouths and paying the full price of the meal thanks to fast one the manager pulled on us. WE WON'T GIVE THIS RESTAURANT ANOTHER CHANCE - THREE STRIKES AND WE ARE OUT OF THERE! [17 Aug 2004 18:38:58]

Not so bad! Ate here with a friend who has enjoyed their foods before.
The decor resembles a country kitchen, and the mood is very relaxed. The waitress seemed a bit confused when we asked about several items, and had to go ask another employee. I thought I had ordered their daily special of meatloaf, but I got roast beef instead. I got the feeling that the recipes and dishes might vary day to day, depending on the cook's mood and/or availability of particular items.
All in all this was a decent meal. I would not recommend ordering anything fancy or on the pricey side of their menu, but for your basic burger/sandwich/breakfast meal, it's waaaay better than Denny's.
Also, the brownie we got to-go was delicious and huge! [23 Aug 2007 20:56:08]

Gramma's Is Great We have been going to Grammas for years and have never been served anything but great food.
Alice, Paulette and Cathy (the owner) are all teriffic people with excellent attitudes. We love going and know you will, too.
All one needs to do is look at the LONG waiting lines on weekends to see how popular this place is. We are "regulars" and know many others who are there every time we are.
Go Gramma's! [17 Sep 2007 17:39:03]

Go for the Food.; Ignore the Flag-Waving Evangelism For the last seven years, on an annual trip I make through Banning, I try to time things so I can stop off at Gramma's Country Kitchen for their fried farm-raised trout platter and a slice of pie. The food and service have always been good and friendly to me. The country hearth and home motif and all the antiques are both cool and fun.
The only thing that can be hard to swallow is all the flag-waving and born-again exhortation signs. It's one thing to be patriotic and religious; quite another to use the flag/one's faith as a business decor -- an all too common problem I see with too many businesses these days.
Go for the food. Enjoy the folks and the antiques. Ignore the rest as best you can. [23 Oct 2007 16:28:19]
