The only place for miles around
This is a real desert bar. One of a kind, with lots of atmosphere. It was used briefly for a scene in "Erin Brockovich". A favorite of the off-road community, on weekends most customers arrive by dirt bike, quad or truck. They offer camping on their fifty acres, located on Hwy 247, about halfway between Lucerne and Barstow. A great place to set up a telescope, it is dark sky territory. The customers can look a little scary, but don't worry about them. The management is well armed.    [14 Jul 2003 14:25:22]

Slash X Still Serves Great Food!
My first visit to the Slash X was around 1968, when my dad and I arrived on dirt bikes to have a little lunch. We used to camp and ride off road in the Stoddard Valley, and the Slash X soon became the highlight of weekend trips. Hamburgers and cold soda (beer in my adult years) were always the perfect end to a desert weekend.

36 years later the Slash X still serves up great burgers and other roadside diner fare. The place looks exactly like what it is: a hole-in-the-wall that secretly harbors great food, tons of atmosphere, and an overall satisfying experience. Eating at the Slash X is like visiting an old mining camp, with spartan decor and plentiful vittles. Stop by!    [21 Sep 2003 17:08:22]

I LOVE SLASH X
I love Slash X. It is the perfect place to go and get some good grub after a long day of riding. I'm even excited to go there for Valentine's Day! The food I crave and the beer is great. The best part I love about Slash X is the people who own and run the place. The nicest around and the atmosphere is great. I have taken everyone I can to eat at Slash even people who don't ride.    [03 Feb 2004 16:53:52]

The food is great, but the service is better!!!
I have been visiting the Slash X Ranch for years, and have recommended it to many friends. The beer is always cold, the burgers are always great, anf the fries are always plentiful. What I enjoy most is the friendly atmosphere. There is nothing like riding your dirt bike in off the trail, walking into the Slash, and seeing Tina's smiling face to welcome you.    [11 Feb 2004 17:26:33]

The Best in Barstow
We almost passed by it on our way from Palm Springs to Las Vegas...but curiosity got the better of us and then hey, we just had to stop and check it out. Instantly, we loved it. On our way back we made it a destination point to stop for lunch. Best chili dog I ever ate. Bought a souvenir T-shirt and the darned dry cleaner lost it the very first time we gave it to him. Now, all we have are memories and a digital picture of a place in the sun.    [14 Mar 2004 09:55:21]

most welcoming place for miles and miles
If you go to /X you wont be disappointed. Service is outstanding, headed by Tina. The beer is as cold as it gets. If you go there once you will go back; I have nearly 50 times now. Make sure you say Howdy to Tina and Dave(owner).    [16 Mar 2004 20:29:57]

Friends and Food
First and foremost the Slash X serves up friendliness. Stop in twice and you are a regular. I've spent many an evening there while having business in the High Desert. Every 6 months or so I crave a visit to see old friends, shoot the breeze, and eat. And I mean eat. Don't come without bringing an appetite. Say hello to Dave, Tina 1, Tina 2, Kelly, Randy and the rest of the gang!! Don't miss it. I've driven 200 miles out of my way to visit the Slash!    [30 Mar 2004 15:08:36]

Slash/X Rocks
No matter what time of day or night, you can be sure that while you drink and dine at the Slash/X cafe, at least one person in the room doesn't have all his teeth.

That doesn't stop them from smiling, and while the place can get crazy out back with all the campers partying until the sun comes up, it's always been about having a good time with all the hell raising being done on motorcycles, quads, ATVs, sand rails, off road trucks and even some ultralights...it's never been the kind of place where fights break out or people don't get along, and when you look at the clientele you'll be thankful for that because there's some hardened veterans of the dirt that look like they eat rocks but would sooner buy you a beer than wish you harm.

It's a must if you're into riding, and the food is excellent. They serve generous portions, the drinks are cheap and plentiful and the jukebox actually has songs worth listening to.

Just obey the rules while riding through the campground and in front of the place. Go slow so you don't kick dirt up everywhere and you'll live. Disobey and you'll be served up as meatloaf!    [19 Nov 2004 12:30:48]

When you are tired and want some real relaxation..go to the Slash X! :) It is a unique place to enter into. You don't have to worry about being too formal. Just RELAX and ENJOY! It is a great resting place on your journey! The food isn't bad either. Remember to drink and drive responsibly. When you are in the area stop in and you won't be sorry that you did. We love the place! :)    [07 May 2005 18:58:52]
