Wonderful!
The food was delicious and the ambiance was, well, like a step back in time to the good old days. The decor was calming and the lighting just perfect. They ask you if you want to 'split' a meal, and offer two plates, but they neglect to tell you that there is an additional $10 charge to do this. Made me very upset when I got the bill.    [17 Mar 2005 20:49:36]

Big, tasty food here. The soup that comes with every meal is enough to serve as a dinner in and of itself. If you get the beef ribs as I did, be prepared for looks of astonishment from the other diners. Every meal comes with soup and salad and sides.    [26 Apr 2005 02:05:21]

Enjoyed ourselves
Great staff and great food are the combo you get at AJ Spurs. It's a very popular place so when you arrive sit in the bar where there's live entertainment. The interior decor is wild to say the least. Ideal place for families. Black bean soup is to die for.    [31 May 2005 19:55:15]

Had a wonderful dinner. Service was good. Portions very large. Best ribs I have had in a long time. Soup was delicious but could have been heated a little more. After dinner drink or dessert was included with the meal. Nice way to end the meal.    [01 Nov 2005 00:40:26]

great overall experience
Family of 5, had huge juicy steaks, great mounds of delicious ribs, and wonderful chicken fettucine. Added on scampi for only 8 dollars. Vegetable soup was great and very fresh. Will return soon and often.    [21 Jun 2006 16:04:05]

Trickery!!!
I don't suggest this place to anyone. When you first sit down, they automatically bring you this big pot of soup and someone comes by and explains that you can eat it with beans and salsa. They make it sound like they bring this standard instead of bread along with four bowls. So, the two vegans at the table push it aside and don't eat any because it's pork-based. Later, they charge us for four servings of soup even though two of us obviously didn't have any. We bring it to their attention and they say, if it's on your table, you pay for it!!! By the way, the soup counts as your side order so you don't get any other sides with your dinner!!! And of course, that soup tastes horrible!    [13 Nov 2006 15:13:48]

Yummy, Yummy
Dont go to A.J. Spurs without an appetite. Best food ever. I have tried every steak and pasta on the menu. No complaints here. The service is wonderful and the manager, Vince, is absolutly adorable!!!!!!!    [09 Nov 2007 23:17:40]
