yum! The classic Italian sub. Good bread with a slightly crisp crust, but not flaky. The spices and oil make it come together. My favorite sub shop in the valley. [06 Nov 2003 23:30:57]

Don't Miss This Shop! The diced tomatoes, pickles and onions are soaked in oils, a taste like no other! Growing up in Burbank, my entire family would hit Santoro's for dinner two or three times each month...and even though I live 5 hours away, I manage to stop in a few times a year! Incredible subs! Crazy good Relish I lived in Burbank for a year in the early '80s and would often stop by a sub shop on my way to a continuation high school I was attending at the time.
These subs were so incredible; I can remember the taste over twenty years later. I've tried to duplicate them and can't seem to make it happen. I've made my own pickles and then diced them up with tomatoes and onions and then let them marinade. I should try adding some Italian dressing. And the sub rolls I get never have the right ‘twang.’
Can't believe I found this listing. I had given up a long time ago. I live in Oregon now, but I’m going to have to fly down to Burbank and get one those turkey and ham combos. At least my co-workers can quit hearing the "Once, when I was a kid, there was this sub-shop in Burbank that had this relish…" stories every time they mention Subway or Quiznos.
Maybe you can go home, or at least get a taste of it? [05 Sep 2006 02:20:45]

Still Great After all these years! I used to work there from 1979-91. I was privileged to have met and worked with the original owner, Pasqual Santoro. Even-though he was many years retired, he would frequently come in and train us properly. Since then the Santoro family has sold this business, but the Sub shop lives on.
I recently went in (I have not been in Burbank in 10 years). Some well needed improvements had been done but the Subs are still done the same way, even down to the roll. It is a time warp for me. I expected Richard Santoro to come out from the pack and yell at me to: GET TO Work!!! It is nice to see that even though everything changes, some things great stay the same. -PB [02 Oct 2006 18:01:52]

Unlike Any Oother!!! As a former resident of Burbank, Santoro's is a one-of-a-kind that I am convinced cannot be duplicated. I grew up eating sandwiches here regularly, and it had become a family tradition, because my mom and uncle had eaten Santoro's sandwiches while in high s chool in the '60s.
As a former Santoro's employee during college (1992-1993), I have eaten all of the sandwiches on the menu at least once. No sandwich on the menu is money wasted, but the Pepper Steak and Egg goes down as my all-time favorite!
Since moving to Colorado, I always try to get back to the to Burbank for a stop at Santoro's. It's never too early (open at 8:30am) for a Pepper Steak & Egg sandwhich! [07 Jul 2007 20:39:34]
