no ambiance - poor service
Atmosphere lacking - too brightly lit. The tables are too close together, literally 1.5 ft. apart. Absolutely no privacy. Had to listen to conversations on both sides of us the entire dinner. Ordered the Halibut that came undercooked and not hot enough for my taste. Granted, others may enjoy it this way. However, I asked if they could please microwave the dish 1-2 minutes to finish the fish and to heat up the dish. It took at least 7-10 minutes to have my plate returned. By this time my wife was nearly finished with her dish. Also, not sure how they recooked the dish, but it came back as a bowl of mush - all the ingredients were melted together. Never got an apology or a "sorry your dish wasn't cooked enough or hot". Also, the owner came over to push the wine shop she has and saw our bread basket was empty. She asked if we wanted more bread and then never brought it. The wine was delicious, but at $9-10 a glass, no real value. Overall, paid $95 for a salad and a bowl of mush - lousy service, and a very uncomfortable environment. Should have taken the advise I was given and driven the 15 mins to Tre Vigne in St. Helena. Lastly, a pet peeve of mine, we were given our check and were never asked "how was everything". Although I should have, I never complained to the owner - but, rather, thought I share my experience with others so theat they won't have the regrets I did.    [26 Oct 2004 22:15:21]

Great food but service needs improvement
We ate here recently, anxious to try it after reviewing the menu posted on the door. The first time we tried to go, it was closed with no explanation, as the sign said it was open every night. The next night we arrived right as it opened and were asked if we had reservations, and we were the only patrons there. Service started out good but went downhill as more diners arrived...glasses weren't refilled, empty plates sat, one part of a dish didn't arrive until we were done eating everything else, a worker took my charge card and just left it sitting at the register for 15 minutes until our waiter came over to tell me that they didn't accept that card. The food was good but the service really detracted from what should have been a pleasant experience.    [22 Feb 2004 18:24:20]

Recommended Dishes: Everything looked good..salads were good but a little too greasy. Mushroom ragout and a mussels in a spicy coconut lobster broth were excellent.
