Great theme, not so great food
Wonderfully themed restaurant- "Bandits"- sorry to say the food is not so wonderful. A bit pricey for the quality and portions. The garlic bread comes "grilled", couldn't taste much garlic, but tasted the "grill" just fine. If you love a wonderful "theme" this place is for you, if the food is more important, try another BBQ.    [14 Jul 2002 21:36:19]

St. Louis Ribs

Thousand Oaks Bandits
I've enjoyed the T.O. location for many years - good food, good service. Though I frequent the 'to go' window at the Camarillo store, largely because I work nearby, the food there is not as good.
Since I really like BBQ though, 'not as good' is still pretty good!    [20 Feb 2003 16:07:16]

Good BBQ
Not the best BBQ but one of two decent chains. The St. Louis and the Baby Back Ribs are both worth trying. I prefer the fries to the beans and the salad to the cole slaw. Western/nostalgia theme is always interesting.    [02 Mar 2005 12:25:16]

Sounds good, but its not
When Bandits first opened the food and service was pretty good. Not anymore. The customer service is poor. Much too relaxed and not very professional. The servers seem annoyed when you need a refill. But worse is the food. The portions are MUCH smaller and the quality of food is just not what it was. Particularly their beef. Very dry. I have since reverted back to my prior fave place Wood Ranch and backup the Outback. I will never return to Bandits.    [01 Jan 2006 18:03:54]

POOR choice...
Bandits is a POOR choice for any reason! Food was weak however the service was friendly and quite cute!-- I can get cute at the Pound Though-- After we ate we popped into the Pub for a COLD beer and it sadly was not.

Poor Service but Improving
When they first opened I received extremely poor service. They screwed up my order on three different occasions and the wait staff forgot about me four times. I vowed to never return. However, a friend suggested I try them again and since I thought their food is good, although not spectacular, I was willing to try.
The bad news was that they again screwed up my order. The good news is they promptly fixed it. And I have been there two times since and both times the service was good and I got what I ordered. So, I can recommend them now.    [19 Sep 2006 03:57:37]
