Description

American bistro food with European, South American and Asian accents. Fine dining in a casual atmosphere. The restaurant is small and intimate with a fireplace and hardwood floors. In the back is a wine bar with a view of the kitchen.

Pass This One - Not Worth It
This is a pretentious, pushy restaurant. Don't rely on their web site online reservation to work. It doesn't. Servers are distracted, although there are enough empty seatings on a Saturday night. Dishes, pretentious. The coconut shrimp, overdone and too much curry. The wine list, overpriced and is not built to pair with the fusion Asian overtone of the dishes. The lamp "lollipop" appetizer, has no flavor. The overall menu makes no sense. Dining experience without much charm. Pass this one and try a restaurant that befits the Cambria environment.    [16 May 2005 20:45:57]

Simply Wonderful
I'm shocked at the other review. This restaurant is especially known for its wine pairings. The food is outstanding. Some of the best I've had in the world. We go there every time we're in town which is about once a month since we have a home in Cambria. I can't recommend The Black Cat enough! You won't be disappointed. I can only imagine that the other reviewer was just having a bad day in general.    [20 Dec 2005 02:04:37]

I Really Love This Place
The owner is so warm and welcoming and really gives her all and it is not fake; it is the real thing. The ambiance is much like the owner-it embraces you. The menu does not have the kind of things I like to eat but I know a lot of people really do like it. I will go back and try again just because it is such a warm atmosphere.

I did notice the service was slooooooooooowwwww... Luckily, I was not in a big hurry and was ok with it since I really did enjoy the surroundings and the essence of the place.    [04 Oct 2006 06:18:56]

Wonderful
We have eaten at the Black Cat every time we've visited Cambria and never, ever been disappointed. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, the food sublime.

Next time we visit, we will eat at the Black Cat again. And again and again!    [28 Sep 2007 21:49:55]

My Birthday
I wanted a romantic weekend and a special birthday. Cambria and the Black Cat delivered both! The restaurant is charming, and the food was flavorful and perfectly prepared (truly, it was better than I had at more expensive and highly acclaimed places). I would highly recommend it to someone searching for "that special place." Black Cat "MEOW." Definitely try the soup du jour and, if still available, the BEEF (it was locally raised and very flavorful!).    [31 Mar 2008 02:50:28]
