Disappointed in service We were very unhappy with the service we DIDN'T receive when we ate dinner on the evening of April 14. There was a large group outside that certainly was getting the majority of all the servers attention. It was unfortunate for my husband and I that we didn't choose to eat outside, perhaps we would have gotten our food in a timely manner. It took a really long time (35 min.) and then we were only offered refills on our ice tea once. :( I stood at the door to see if I could get our servers' attention and when I observed him chatting with people in the party ouside I felt sad that we were totally brushed off. A great place for people & their dogs We have dined at Forge in the Forest at least once during each of our many trips to Carmel. Because we always have our four legged companion with us I can only comment on the service in the outdoor area reserved for people with their dogs. Our four legged companion is a Rottweiler and we have always received a hearty welcome with dog bones and a bowl of water. The food has always been great especially the hot cookie skillet for dessert. All of our serving staff has been very friendly and don't seem to mind having to step over a very large dog if needed. They seem to make a very conserted effort to make us feel like part of the restaurant although we are in an isolated area. We don't always have reservations and I think the longest we have waited was about 5 minutes which gave us an extra 5 minutes to wear out the dog. Heaters are always available if the weather is too cool along with a fireplace. There is enough space between tables that each dog can feel like they have their own space. They also have a special menu just for the four legged diners which has always gone over very well with our pampered pooch. We have another trip planned to Carmel in March and already are anticipating a couple of Forge in the Forest meals. [16 Jan 2008 17:08:06]
