Best Mexican Restaurant Ever I love Taco Joe's! There is one in Rialto also. Meals here are served with generous portions, you will never walk out of Taco Joe's hungry! The food is prepared authentic to the Mexican palate. Free chips and salsa. Are you vegetarian? Order the "garbage" burrito! [03 Dec 1999 15:41:09]

Taco Joe's is a beautiful Mexican restaurant. The food is delicious, hot and full of flavor. This is one place that treats you like you were family. I travel all the way down from Nevada, just to eat there. What really makes me come all the way down is the service. There are two servers a waitress and a waiter. They are the best in there!! Always with a welcoming face and smiling. They take your order fast and bring out everything fast, hot, and delicious. Enthusiastically recommended. [19 Apr 2001 12:37:21]

Overcharged I was overcharged. I bought 3 burritos with Carne Asada, Rice, Beans and Cheeses. I was charged $ 10.00 for each burrito. When I called to talk about it the manager justified the price and said what do you expect we aren't McDonalds. The burrito was small and not very tasty. [26 Feb 2003 15:54:21]

Taco Joe's - It's all about location Taco Joe's in Colton is amazing. The food is great, service great and very reasonably priced. The waitress there is so attentive & friendly. The Taco Joe's in Highland is competely different. The chicken burritos are tasteless, the carne asada tacos were so burnt they looked like beef jerky. Not to mention the not so friendly or attentive waitress we've had. Living in Highland I tried the Highland location 3 times, now I drive to the Taco Joe's in Colton. [25 Jun 2003 19:42:21]

Yes LOCATION! is key. Yes, stick with Colton or Rialto Taco Joe's, these are the originals! Highland is a newer one I think, without the same traditions of the other two, but I'm sure they will step up to the plate. Watch out for imitations, they are just not the same! Totally different concepts, different styles. Taco Joe's Colton, it's right off the freeway exit, Washington off of 215. My mouth was watering looking at everyone's hearty portions when I walked in. I think the recipes are perfections. The salsa is so good I would drink it- this is how my Mexican grandmother used to make salsa, exactly. You should tip double, because they will treat you well, and they will cook your meal to your desire, the service is clean and very polite. I have seen the kitchen, and it is surgically clean, I would not hesitate to have the cook perform open heart surgury on me in there. You can ask about what meat is the best on that day, as everything is garden fresh. My family have been regular customers for years now. Obviously, the family that runs this place has professional restauranteering in their blood, because good, hot food is like second nature to them. [25 Jul 2003 03:41:14]

The worst Mexican food I've eaten! The food at Taco Joe's is advertised as authentic Mexican food. However, to me it was tasteless. I wouldn't consider such food Mexican is just a mixture of careless dishes. [07 Jan 2004 17:05:02]

Love this place We eat at Taco Joe's Colton all the time. Laura is a gem (manager/owner?). I can't believe that the complaint about prices spoke to her. She will always make it right. You get lots of food, it is hot and tasty. And you can't find someplace w/such quick food service to table, once you order. If we want to go to a fast sit down place, we always go to Taco Joes. Long Time Taco Joes Customer I've been going to Taco Joes for over 30 years. I still remember the original owner, Joe ? serving me personally at the original restaurant in Colton, at Mt Vernon and Olive. The Rialto restaurant was his second one, I believe, then he opened #3 in Colton, on Washington. The Highland restaurant was the last to open. The original on Mt Vernon has closed so there are only 3 remaining. I believe that Colton & Rialto are owned by the same woman (Joe died several years ago) and the Highland restaurant has a seperate owner. The Colton restaurant has by far the best food and ambiance. Great service and cold cervezas. I highly recommend the King Sized Deluxe Burrito platter. [25 Feb 2005 17:18:40]

Good food at two of their locations Yes, it's true that all three are part of the same chain of restaurants, however the ones in Colton and Rialto have far better tasting meals. I have been to each restaurant and have tried almost everything thing they have served, and found out that Highland's Taco Joe's is the least flavorful of the three. I am unsure if it's because when they made the last place in Highland that the chefs and cooks from the other locales, would not provide the correct cooking directions or ingredients for them. I know they have tried hard but it still is not the same as Colton's or Rialto's restaurants. I think in the past there was also some bad blood stirred up by the surviving family members of the original owner and that, that is why the recipe's may not have been shared by all of them, how sad if it is found to be true, because he truly was a gem of a human being. The original owner, who was a retired United States Air Force colonel, made it his life's work to bring some very delectable meals to the Inland Empire. In the old days, he was very involved with every aspect of his business, from cooking and serving to doing the book keeping and remodeling. He personally oversaw the way the food was prepared, cooked and served. He ran his restaurants with pride as well as with love for his customers. Unfortunaly, with his passing, so has gone the of Taco Joe's quality. [12 Jun 2006 14:10:17]

Good food - poor service We have eaten there several times, each time once the food was delivered I never saw a waiter or waitress again till it was time to flag them down for the check. Poor service. [15 Jan 2007 13:41:26]
