For Drinks with a Meal While more than two thirds of The Quiet Woman is a restaurant, the whole place has the feel of a bar. That’s not an accident, as The Quiet Woman is an attempt at replicating a British pub of the same name, patronized by the founder during World War II.
What’s the story behind the name? The PC version has it there was a seventh century saint, Judith, who guided pilgrims to the shrine in her village. Her family didn’t like her religious activities, and cut off her head with a sword. Judith’s decapitated body picked up her head and carried it to the altar before she expired. The name’s non-PC connotations seem to help business more than hurt it. T-shirt sales are brisk, both to men and women.
The dark wood interior imparts a comfortable pub feeling, but with only one beer on tap, this really isn’t a pub, per se. That one beer is a California classic, Anchor Steam, and the bar is well stocked otherwise, both in wine and spirits. A live band is sardined in a corner Wednesday through Saturday nights, and that’s when The Quiet Woman is at its best, as a destination for a lively night out with old friends.
The food, on the whole, is average. The service is friendly and snappy at times. But, sometimes I’ve felt almost ignored, even at off-peak hours -- depends on who you get. Entrees are close to ten dollars at lunch, and in the mid twenties at dinner. Also at dinner, in the bar you have the option of a variety of sandwiches, back near ten dollars. Seafood is available both lunch and dinner, but the steak selection is missing from the lunch menu. [27 Jun 2002 12:28:17]

top of the line for a local hangout Been here many times, NEVER disappointed with quality and quantity of food. Try the lobster ...it is the best ever and you don't have to wrestle with it to eat. Their London broil and baseball steaks are simply mouthwatering ... and love the goodie tray that comes with the salad. They serve a hearty drink and are never stingy with the call brands. Try it ..... you will soon be a regular. [02 Jul 2006 12:42:03]

Great People, Place, Atmosphere, Food My experience was great. I had the baseball filet and it was mouthwatering. The atmosphere is relaxing, warm, and just makes you feel good. Try it...you WILL like it. [09 Apr 2007 13:34:18]
