Avoid this place like the plague

Staying at the Anchor motel, around the corner..
Clerk said food at Grotto was good..should be arrested..
Bad clam chowder-toooo salty/bland..clams on strike..
Got veggie soup-hot water with veggies-no seasoning-sent it back..
Ordered drinks prior to food..still nothing..
Must be some art to pouring beer that escapes this establishment..
Ordered raw oysters on the half shell..brought the ones from the jar..
Main course was fresh salmon..menu said they pan fry it..
My wife and I enjoy it broiled..
When we ordered it broiled the waitress gave us a dirty look..
It was all my wife couuld do to keep me from leaving..
The place has zero atmosphere, no music, nothing charming....
The lady next to us was crocheting..
Salmon finally came..sorry it made it down stream to our plates..
RUbber like, no seasoning what so ever..
Came with tartar sauce..
Veggies were the frozen type..
Server said all food was frozen, other than catch of the day..
Amazing with the bounty of harvest locally that we were subjected to that..
Did I mention the abomination called dinner salad?
Limp head lettuce, 5 garbanzo beans and a beet..
I would like to end on a positive note:

Love the Petrale Sole!!
I'm a picky fish eater, I'll admit it. But there is nothing better than the deep fried Petrale Sole from the Catch of the Day at this place!! If they happen to be out of that, then the prawns can't be beat! They have a light menu and a complete menu . . . HUGE portions!! I wasn't able to finish the light portion, can't imagine what the complete is like! IF you are a drinker, then better call a cab if you order a Margarita . . . for $6.50, I have never seen such a gigantic Margarita! Great stuff!    [28 Sep 2007 20:24:03]
