Swanson's TV Dinners Are Better The worst meal of my life was served to me at Billy Bears. The mashed potatoes were cold and gritty, the fried chicken leg was the smallest leg I've ever seen; it looked more like a quail's leg. The green beans were cold and shriveled. I literally could not eat my meal and chose to leave after complaining and just getting a blank stare from the waitress. [20 Jun 2004 14:38:37]

Dennys for Crestline I go here every now and then when we have family or friends over. The service is a bit slow and the food is comperable to Dennys, so if you're looking for gourmet, this is not the place to go, but the prices are reasonable and the portions are good sized! ;) [20 Jun 2004 21:58:16]

Needs Salt I've only eaten there once but I've been told that my opinion was typical and continuous ... nice atmosphere but the food had no flavor. It wasn't "bad" ... it was just non-existent. I had to even salt the sausage patty for cryin' out loud. Only thing I didn't have to salt was the English muffin ... but then I did have jelly that they didn't make themselves. Appearances Are Deceiving It's a really cute restaurant. It's a shame their food is so terrible. I've eaten there twice and the food is really bland. My husband had to salt his sausage. I got good service the first time I went, but the second time service was really lazy even though they weren't busy at the time. [21 Jun 2004 11:42:12]

Do you feel lucky? They're usually pretty good for breakfast. Lunch and dinner are potluck -- sometimes pretty good, sometimes horrible. Service is slow and often rude. I really enjoy the Shaker Mountain Burger, kinda like a Frisco Burger, but even that sometimes ends up dry. We avoid if possible, but they're open later than most other places, so sometimes we get desperate. [30 Jun 2004 11:35:31]

Good place to hang out, food is a little lacking The food is not quite to the standard of similar restaurants such as a Denny's. It looks nice and is clean, and usually good service. Prices a little higher than you'd expect. [10 Jul 2004 00:54:11]

I think Billy Bears is the Best! I think that Billy Bears is the best restaurant. When my friend & I drove through Crestline to get to Big Bear 3 weeks ago Tuesday, the service was quick & fast. We loved looking at the teddy bears on display. I used to live in Crestline for 29 yrs before moving off the mountain in 2002. [14 Sep 2006 14:27:23]

Whoever wrote the comment about their worst dinner ever is crazy and this dinner was delicious! The waitress was extremely nice, the restaurant was clean and it was a great night! Billy Bear's Is Just Fine! I just spent six days in Crestline and had three of my meals at Billy Bears. You say the service is slow? Hey, you are in a mountain community, if you wanted something fast then go to McDonald's. I was on vacation, not in any hurry. My food was fine, as was my family's. No, it wasn't gourmet food, but it was tasty. I work in the food industry, I know how to make customers happy -- be pleasant. Billy Bear's waitresses were very pleasant. They made sure we got what we wanted and if there was anything we needed, refills, etc. [12 Aug 2007 20:13:42]
