Brio in Dana Point Great music, and very good food. [13 Sep 2004 03:28:23]

Hidden Gem The food was fabulous. We started with the Carpacio di Mano (sp?), thinly sliced filet Mignon sprinkled with tangy cheese, cilantro, capers and a spritz of lemon. I had the Manicotti di Spinaci, hand made pasta stuffed with a savory mozzarella and spinach stuffing swimming in a wine and cream sauce (NOT low calorie!). My husband ordered the grilled New York steak with a side of sautee'd mushrooms. The steak was perfectly seasoned, and the mushrooms were lightly flavored with basil. My son had the children's portion of spaghetti with meatball. the meatball was between the size of a golf ball and a baseball and he said it tasted like meatloaf - high praise from this 8-year old.
Service was fabulous, with gracious waiters checking on us frequently. Our drinks never got low before someone offered a refill. The outdoor dining was comfortable, even on an early spring night - the overhead heaters showered warmth on my neck and shoulders, and my family was comfortable.
We will definitely become regulars at Brio. [13 Apr 2006 15:06:40]
