El Machino! Chevy's offers a wonderful view of the bay, warm chips with salsa and features El Machino the tortilla-making machine.
If you can handle chain food, Chevy's is pretty good - they use fresh ingredients (isn't that why they're 'fresh-Mex'?) Unfortunately fresh ingredients alone doesn't make a good restaurant.
They offer typical Tex-Mex stuff like burritos, fajitas, tacos and such but none of them really shine. Salt seems to be the main flavor, and even shrimp are rubbery.
The three things I like about Chevy's have little to do with their main menu - I dig their warm chips and smoky salsa, that little scoop of greasy corn sweetness you get as a bonus on entrees, and their fresh tortillas. Other than that...
Expect the usual chain restaurant stuff, like a wait, lots of kids, and people celebrating birthdays.
Chevy's is pretty good for Happy Hour - half price appetizers and margaritas. [19 May 2002 13:52:14]

Best Salsa Around This is a great fresh mex restaurant! The food portions leave you full and prices are not too bad! This restaurant has an upbeat atmosphere perfect for any occasion! But don't forget to have a margarita with your meal! [06 Jun 2003 19:26:08]
