Fun, loud, food's ok too.
Whenever we want to take our young children out to eat with family members, or a large party, we can't go wrong with Buca de beppo. Very loud, and packed most nights, the service is always friendly and prompt. The food is basic Italian, fresh, not chef boyardee, but defintely not top of the line. The portions are HUGE. One order of ANYTHING will feed at least three large adults. The tendency there is to order too much, and everyone leaves with a doggy bag. A Bloody Circus
Had I not taken my wife to Buca on our first date, I wouldn't have considered bringing friends from out of town there last night. After last night, I will never eat at a Buca again. I was familiar with Buca's festive ambience, occasional loudness, and good food and service. Last night, however, was an exception. Next to our party of six were two tables with large groups, who proceeded to become falling-down drunk over the course of an hour. This included screaming, expletives hurled at waitstaff, and general annoyance to the other customers. The manager came to our table to say that "this is how it is here." He made no effort to ask these nutjobs to lower their voices even slightly. As we all walked out with tension headaches, ears ringing, and a nervous condition, there were two cars full of teenagers peeling out in the Buca parking lot, in front of twenty or so people who were waiting for the valet parking attendant. Again, nothing at all was done. I am telling all my friends, family, colleagues and maybe even strangers on the street that Buca is a bloody circus that patronizes social outcasts who use this venue as a "party zone." Not least, the food as gone downhill since I was there a few years ago.    [21 Dec 2006 17:11:06]
