Poor service & food on 3-25-04 around 5:15 p.m. On the last two visits to your diner, we have has very poor service, diced ham and eggs with no potatoes, toast delivered well after we had finished, l cup of coffee, no check (we had to go and wait for it), service that was ridiculous, waiting on people who just came in and not getting silverware or food to the people who had been there. You really need to improve on everything. I really think the owners should start going around seeing if there is anything that is needed instead of talking with a few regulars, because if you want more regulars, you really need to be much more attentive. I also asked for my eggs to be scrambled dry, and they were not even close to that. Either the waitress needs to be more attentive to my requests or your cook needs to read better. Rib-Eye Steak We have decided that Big John's is one of our "destination" restaurants. Today's choice was the rib-eye steak with dried tomatoes and roasted garlic. Everything was perfect and tasty. They're well worth the five miles from the Frazier Park off ramp. It's a small-town atmosphere with thoughtful attention to the tastes of their food. We found them by accident and we repeat the "accident" every chance we get. [14 Apr 2008 01:42:24]

RUDE Owners / BAD FOOD Recent visit 2/21/09 to Big John's. Owner/waitress purported that the macaroni and cheese was not Kraft, when I asked if it was home style. It sure looked/tasted just like Kraft when it arrived for my kids. My grilled cheese was cold and unappealing, so I asked to send it back and was told I would have to pay for it, since I ordered it!! On the rare occasion I have sent food back, the restaurant has always been courteous, but the owners here were rude. They threatened to call the police if I did not pay for the sandwich! We had no problem with paying for the rest of the bill, even through the food was bad, but for the owners to insist that we pay for something we sent back to the kitchen, that is going too far.
Clearly this town is in dire economic straits, and the owners just want their money and don't care if the customer ever returns.

Mrs. G, Los Angeles, CA
Response to Mrs G, Los Angeles, CA Editor note: This is a response from the restaurant to the negative posting above. ======================================================== Mrs G and family dined at our restaurant, ordered two identical adult meals and two identical kid's meals. Claimed there was issues with one adult meal, although her partner was perfectly happy with his meal. Mrs G threw her plate of food on to the counter in front of other guests, and proceeded to leave the restaurant. Her partner & kids had gone before her, she was detained at the door and presented with the bill. She refused to pay the bill and was being loud and aggressive. She was warned that the police would be called, she continued her behavior until the police arrived. The deputy heard both sides of the story, and at one point had to warn Mrs. G that her behavior towards him might lead to her arrest if she continued. The deputy found that she was at fault and that she should pay the bill in full. Her meal was packaged up and given to her. [31 Jul 2009 18:31:53]
