Small Town Ice Cream Parlour
Although I have to drive nearly forty miles to get there, the Superior Dairy Ice Cream Parlor is really a trip back in time for old fashion ice cream treats, "y'all come back" service and a great way to end a hot day in the Central San Joaquin Valley. An old friend of mine made a major detour off Highway 99 about 30 years ago to introduce me to the delights of the "Dairy'. He said I shouldn't go another day without trying a strawberry milkshake from this Hanford landmark on Courthouse Square just across the park from the old County Courthouse. Mmm, Mmm, Gooood
I highly recommend this cozy '50s looking place to anyone. We visited Hanford for 4 days, and we went to the ice cream shop 3 days. Banana splits are big & delicious. Vanilla ice cream cones are tall & tasty. Strawberry malts are huge and out of this world good. Simply the best ice cream anywhere. We are going back to Hanford next month...any guesses where we will go first?

As an added plus you get to see the Hanford town square/park, with its 90+ year old buildings and huge trees, right across the street from Superior's big glass

My First American Sundae
I just arrived from the Philippines to L.A. My aunt and uncle picked me up so I can stay with them at their
abode in Lemoore, CA.

My cousin treated me to Superior Dairy. It was dahlicious for my first American sundae huh! I ordered chocolate chip ice cream. I was amazed, I just ordered a scoop and it took me a hard time finishing it. :-) I won't dare try the S-O-S - it's a sundae with seven scoops of ice cream! Gosh!!! How will I ever eat that?

Superior Dairy Is the Place in Hanford!
But only if you get immediate service. The last time I visited my hometown the young waiter took much too long to take our order, even though several customers came in after we did. We finally got fed up after 30 minutes and left. And yes we did complain, to no avail. That was the first time in over 50 years I got such bad service.    [24 Jul 2006 21:43:05]

Best Ice Cream I Ever Had
Superior Dairy is really the best ice cream I ever had. The make delicious sherbet as well. I live in Arizona and only get to eat at Superior a few times a year when we are visiting family in Hanford. Wonderful Bit of Americana
The ambiance is amazing! It does not simulate an ice cream shop from the early 1900s, it is one. Complete with 12 foot ceilings, a city park, court house across the street, and a small batch ice cream plant in the building!
Be sure to try their fruit flavors in-season. Their S-O-S (Superior Oversized Sundae) comes in a gigantic glass and easily feeds a group of four! All over the San Joaquin valley, people know Hanford as "The Town With That Ice Cream Shop"!    [05 Jan 2007 23:20:34]

Ice Cream Out of This World
The best ice cream in the world. They need to make several of them in the state. The only problem is they need to hire different waitresses. The young ones only care about the boys, not the customers. If the management is reading this, you have a awesome product you need to be selling statewide. Yeah, It's That Good
If you're into trying amazing things, Superior Dairy needs to be at the top of your list. I grew up around there and even now, living out of town, I'll drive the 40 minutes specifically to go there. Worth the Trip
Before my sister did me the great favor of moving to Hanford, I had to invent other reasons to travel through the Central Valley and make the detour off Hwy. 99 and into Hanford so I could order a delicious hot fudge sundae at Superior Dairy. Now I have reason to visit more often . . . and to stay in town for several days, leading to multiple sundaes! The vanilla ice cream is the best I have tasted, with the possible exception of homemade -- and even that difference is very slight.
