Terrible lunch experience went to Jack Shrimp in the Park Place shopping center on Michelson in Irvine for lunch and the whole experience was horrible. I ordered "Jack Snack," which was billed as a "house speciality." Despite the fact that it was only 11:30 when I arrived and the restaurant was not initially crowded, it took more than 10 minutes for my lunch to be delivered. The meal consisted of about 6 big (but not jumbo) prawns, with some french bread on the side. Nothing else....no vegetable, no rice....nothing but 6 prawns and french bread for $9.95. The sauce was very spicy and tasty, but the prawns were not peeled. I had to put my hands in the very warm sauce and peel the shrimp....messy and uncomfortable. I decided to peel all the shrimp at once, then use the wet wipe to clean my hands before eating. During this procedure, the waitress was at the table next to mine....and she points to me and says to the table of four, "...that's what she's having." How tacky! I turned to the strangers at that table and said, "it's VERY messy!"
When I was finished, the waitress came and picked up my bowl and bread basket and I asked for the check. After 5 minutes or so, I decided I couldn't wait as long for the check as I had for the food to arrive, so I put my money on the table and walked out. [05 Sep 2003 16:57:39]

Very Good Food and Service I went there for lunch today just on a lark. I had intended to go to Houston's, but it was ridiculously crowded. The waitress was very attentive and the food was delivered in a timely manner. The gumbo was good, but not great; however, the Jambalaya was excellent. My dad is part Cajun and I grew up on his cooking. I was very pleasantly surprised at how good the food was at this restaurant. [29 Mar 2006 16:33:29]
