Formal Night on the Kern
After a long day on the Kern river, a nice steak house is just right. Ewings Restaurant is priced about average for a fancy restaurant--though there are more people in off-the-river clothes than in formal attire. There is live music on some weekends, and the view is unparalleled. Though the staff may not be prepared to serve a big group, they try hard and are very friendly. Fabulous Experience - More bang for your buck
From what I learned on my last trip to Kernville, the restaurant that I have known as “Ewings” for over the last 23 years has changed their name to “The Broken Oar.” Many pleasant changes have come along with the restaurant’s name change. The interior glows at this tranquil restaurant, which is half lounge, half restaurant. Both sides stay plenty busy due to the expertly prepared food and cocktails. Portions are generous, and the plates are artfully arranged. The service compliments the food and there are plenty of breath-taking views from this restaurant.
