Can't Be Improved Here, in this little out-of-the-way river town, is one of the best Italian restaurants ever. Forget the corny name, the food here is extraordinary. We had the cannelloni, perfectly prepared with a cream sauce, the lasagna, and bow-tie pasta with shrimp. The desserts just can't be passed up, like white chocolate raspberry cheesecake, an incredibly flaky Napoleon, and more. [05 Jan 2004 08:15:30]

Not Very Good When the time came to eat in Kernville, the restaurant that caught our eye was "That's Italian." However service was very slow. We were informed very rudely that lemonade was only one free refill, and it took forever to have the hostess take our order. Restrooms are limited to two, and seem to be packed. To make matters worse, the bill came, and due to our impression of poor service, the waitress claimed a five dollar tip when we in fact rounded the bill up to the next whole dollar. Not a great place to eat -- and watch your wallet. [04 Sep 2006 10:38:21]

Can't Be Beat! My husband and I accidentally came across "That's Italian" on Christmas eve 2004. We don't live in Kernville, but had decided to drive up there for the day. We got hungry and didn't want a burger. We decided to try this little hole-in-the-wall Italian place that had a cheesy Santa on the front porch. I wasn't impressed with the exterior, but the interior was quaint and inviting. We ordered the special, which was a salmon dish. Words can't describe the taste experience we had that evening. Since then, we have returned every Christmas eve, as well as whenever we get a chance to drive the distance to Kernville. The food is ALWAYS excellent...beyond compare. The service is usually very good, also. My advice...get the special, whatever it is. I trust the chef, he's never let us down! [14 Dec 2007 18:56:59]

Small Town, Big Taste Wandering around from Minnesota, we were directed here to attempt to find something my vegan daughter-in-law could eat. She had but one choice -- spaghetti -- but thought it very good. My wife and I had more interesting meals and loved them. The dessert was wonderful, too. I loved the background music. (I hate rap -- especially in an ethnic restaurant.) I'd go out of my way to eat here again! [28 Mar 2008 14:34:08]
