The best place to dine in the Tahoe Basin This place is small, romantic, with a menu that puts it far and away above any other restaurant in the Tahoe Basin. Yeah, North AND South shore. I've been here 5 or 6 times with the same excellent results. It reminds me of Bella Vista in Woodside,CA with a more cozy feel. [10 Dec 2002 04:46:38]

in a word ~ YUM! I have eaten here a handful of times and each time has been both time and money well-spent! There is limited seating so when you decide to go, make a reservation. Very intimate atmosphere and very romantic & cozy. I moved away from the Tahoe area about five years ago, and every time I talk about Tahoe to someone, this is a restaurant I mention! Bon Apetit! overrated and overpriced They said it was the BEST table - if you don't mind seeing the top of the heads of the folks next to us and watch them eat; wonton lobster - where was the lobster? very salty; zucchini soup - good; sea scallops - 7 tiny ones with little rice and few vegetables... don't go here hungry, or order lots of refills of the rolls. And, it was our 20th anniversary = they did NOTHING special [even though we told the co-owner, hostess, and waiter]. Expensive for little food. Try some other place. [12 Aug 2006 20:17:57]

Great Restaurant - One bad experience We have dined here many times over the last few years as it is one of our favorites. The food has always been excellent, the atmosphere great and, with the exception of the last visit, the service has been great.
The last time we were there (10-5-06) the service started out excellent as usual. After our meal we ordered dessert and once it was delivered a party of 14 who were seated adjacent to us seem to take all [the waiter's] time. We weren't offered a coffee refill or anything. In fact we never had contact with him again. We waited at the table for 30 minutes waiting to pay the bill but he never came back and we couldn't get his attention. I finally told my wife and her daughter, who was visiting with us for the day, to leave and I would join them across the street as soon as the bill was paid. They left and I sat there another 10 minutes before I finally got up and went into the next room by the front door and waited another 5 minutes. Finally someone came up and asked if they could help me. I said all I want is to pay this bill but couldn't get anyone's attention. She apologized and said she thought everthing had been taken care of. She took my card and came right back with the bill to sign and again apologized. I thanked her and left.
Waiting 45 minutes to be seated in a fine restaurant is one thing but to have to wait 45 minutes just to pay the bill is unexcusable. All the waiter had to do is look over, see we were waiting, come by and take the card. If we were seated away from where he was working I could possibly understand that he forgot us but being at the next table over - oh well, chalk it up to a bad night. [08 Oct 2006 15:05:04]
