great food in a fun atmosphere The restaurant is constantly full, but always moving. You may have to wait for a table, but it won't take long, and it will be worth the wait. The menu is small, but it covers just about everything that you could have a taste for. The service staff is friendly and efficient, and the food is wonderful. [08 Oct 2003 15:57:32]

Great place Love the food! Busy and fun atmosphere. Stay away from the 2 person table near the side door or you will be hit with cold blasts of wind while you dine. [19 Jan 2004 23:09:30]

chow rules I love the food at Chow. All of the food is sustainable foods (which means mostly organic and natural foods). I haven't tasted a bad meal. They have wonderful desserts and sweets as well. They change the menu with every season, so that they only have the best food that is in season.
They also have a cute little market attached to the restaurant with oragnic fruits, vegies and meats. There's nothing like it. [26 Jan 2004 03:22:37]

Love Chow! The food is wonderful here. The only problem I ran into was trying to select a dish from the very eclectic menu. The service was wonderful as well. Our waitress was friendly, helpful, attentive and recommended great dishes according to each person's different taste. She was impressively knowledgeable about the menu and could go into great detail about flavors, quantities and anything else we needed. This restaurant has something for everyone! Great for special occasions although not a lot of privacy from a romantic point of view. [19 Apr 2004 15:52:59]

Chow for Breakfast Baby!!! I have so many favorites and eat there way too often, but I'm addicted! Don't miss breakfast on weekends.
For lunch The Cobb Salad is fresh, the tarragon dressing is to die for, the pies.
Everything is fresh, the people are eclectic and mostly aiming to please. [22 Jun 2004 08:42:57]

Two Hits, Two Misses. Yesterdays lunch was less than stellar. How can you serve your "sandwich for Tuesday" with the chicken skin still on it and in a half baked fashion, ugh. On the other hand the won tons were very good. The other bad was a wait but I can live with that. The good, you can sit outside with your dog. All in all, I think I will be trying other restaurants for a while. [30 Jun 2004 17:14:08]

Downhill Ate there a lot since opening - quality of food has deteriorated dramatically. Staff good, kid friendly, but the food is just not worth it anymore! [10 Feb 2005 14:12:01]

Gotta Believe Me
I agree with the above comment..... Chow has definitely gone downhill since opening.....they changed management and I don't think they get it. Besides they charge ten bucks for a burger. :( The market is awesome though, lots of organic produce, at good prices, mostly local, way better than Diablo Foods ($$$). [25 Sep 2005 17:49:03]

Spiraling downhill The servers think they are above and beyond the customer and show their nasty attitudes when you ask for anything. The foul bar staff drinks on the job and the food is undercooked and e coli is a worry. Time to close down and let a decent place move in. Lafayette deserves one! [08 Mar 2006 01:16:02]

It's Back I too have eaten at Chow regularly over the past couple of years. I did notice a "blip" in food quality last year but they rallied and are back with great food, great service and a fun bustling place for a casual meal. We eat there almost every week and enjoy the fact that the menu changes regularly. The wait staff is exceptional...young, friendly, no attitude to deal with here! [26 Mar 2006 22:18:23]
