The best Mexican I have ever had The food was awesome. Always fresh and tasty. Always have good service and food is made promptly. Is the cutest little mexican place with outdoor seating. Nice prices. for 7 dollars you can get the entree and beans rice and for about a dollar more a drink. well worth it for the quality and taste. [24 Jun 2005 15:06:06]

Best little Mexican hole in the wall... Freshest ingredients, homemade, california style, mexican food. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My favorites are: Al Pastor Burritos, Avacado Lime Salad with Pollo, and Coconut Cookies. Reasonably inexpensive, excellent quality mexican food. Patio seating is all there is at the mermaid location, so take-out is great on the rainy days. One try and you'll be hooked. Nothing better in this part of SoCal. [06 Jul 2005 23:37:43]

Great food but questionable ethics This is my favorite food in Laguna. When people want to meet for lunch, it is unsaid that we will be meeting at La Sirena. The carne asada burrito is a stapple of my diet and in combination with the hot salsa its to die for.... However, I have always wondered about the 90% of the staff that do not speak english. My fears were compounded when the store was closed durring the "Day without a Mexican" marches in Los Angeles this year. When I went to get my favorite burrito I found a sign that stated roughly "We are closed so that our employees can go support the march in LA".
You can decide if your belly is more important then your ethical duty to defend your country cultural values and laws.
FYI: I still go to get my burrito but that's because I am a weak individual! :-) [12 Apr 2007 23:33:12]
