Fabulous Food in an Unexpected Place I had heard about this place from a coworker and decided that I would go and try it. I went there with my grandmother during a week night and had a great meal at an affordable price. Our server was nice and helpful when it came to figuring out the fairly extensive menu of both Thai, Chinese and Vegetarian items. After looking over the menu and talking to the waitress we decided to order Wonton Soup to start, Pudd Thai, and Chicken, Mixed Vegetables, Basil and Garlic (the suggested choice of the waitress). All of the dishes were great. They were filled with fresh vegetables that were prefectly cooked, well seasoned sauces and seasonings and great tasting meats. After talking to the waitress a little bit more I learned that since all of the menu items were made to order making changes to the dishes and accomodating to a variety of dietary rules was a definate option for all of the menu items. For instance if I liked Kung Pao Chicken but was concerned with too much suger added to it, I could order the dish with no added sugar. I would be able to ask for the dish without added suger. Overall this restaurant was great and I will definatey be back for more. [26 Oct 2003 02:52:58]

Fortune Cookies The atmosphere is stark and the parking is impossible. A nearby "hangout" bar lends a threatening atmosphere to your walk from the car to the restaurant. The staff is generally snooty for no apparent reason. The food is bland and the meats are unusually tough. Overall a bad dining experience in a restaurant with a view of an ugly small parking lot. Just Great My wife and I eat at California Wok at least once a week for four years. First - it provides the healthiest food around. Second - The food is always very tasty. And finally the service is always GREAT. [12 Oct 2005 10:09:46]

One of the Best Restaurant in Los Al I'm a regular customer of California Wok. I came back in May of this year and I was surprised and amazed. She sold the restaurant to this young Filipino couple and they remodeled the place, and it's amazing. They made the restaurant into a cozy and intimate dining and food still the same as tasty as it was, the same cook and crew, you guys need to try California Wok. [30 Jul 2007 16:39:20]

California Wok in Los Alamitos: Great Food, Enterainment I heard very good things about California Wok. And it’s all true. Food is delicious and healthy; we were informed that it would take a little while to order because all ingredients are freshly cut to be served. True enough, it was good, but I did not felt that I waited for a long time because of their entertainment. I never laughed so hard in my life because of these karaoke hosts who have their own original jokes, and I can't believe that they can really sing. Most of the lines are spoken in Tagalog, so I felt that I was once again in my native land. I was worried because I was with my Caucasian friend that I would need to interpret some punch lines, but it seems that she didn’t really mind and was not bothered. She might not have understood a lot of the language, but she was enjoying the singing and the laughter. My niece, who is not so familiar with the culture, was a bit lost. And I asked her, “Are you enjoying it?” And she said, “Not really. I cannot completely relate and understand, but it is interesting to see and to find out about our own culture. I love to see people laughing and enjoying anyway. I'm cool, Tita.” That made my day. Enjoying a moment with my friends and family. Having the right food and entertainment that suits my Pinoy taste. Rediscovering my culture, and letting my Caucasian friends and family experience it.
Thank you, California Wok in Los Alamitos. [01 Nov 2008 21:30:49]
