Great Food, Mediocre Staff, High Prices. Our filet mignon and rack of lamb were excellent. Side dishes must be ordered a la carte...My wife ordered artichokes. They were a big detractor from the succulent lamb. They didn't belong on the menu in my opinion, and they definitely didn't go with the lamb, a fact the server should have pointed out. The chef should determine the sides with the meal. We had our salads and then had our meal served, we had to remind our waiter to bring the wine we had ordered at the outset. No apologies from the waiter at all. Dessert was apple tartin. Nothing to write home about. After telling us that he had removed the artichokes from our bill, I stated that he didn't have to do that. He replied with a smirk, "I know I didn't, but I did." There was something about the dining room itself as well. No sense of coziness, with people talking loudly on their cell phones. Fresh Cream is overrated in my opinion. [13 Nov 2003 22:39:52]

Fresh Cream +++ We dined at Fresh Cream recently. I had the rack of lamb (the best I've ever had). Our friends had the Dover Sole (and loved it) and my wife had a (great) filet mignon. The service was top drawer, the views (magnificent). It's challenging for me to imagine someone not having a great experience at this restaurant. Our tab was around $200 which included wine & dessert. Compare Fresh Cream to the French Laundry (lots of bread courses following by the filet of hummingbird tongue/sliced thin on a bed of (2) sesame seeds) & you'll never make the drive to Yountville & stare at a stark white wall. The Fresh Cream My girlfriend and I had the Australian Lobster Tail with Grilled Prawns. The food was unbelievable, the service was outstanding and the Setting was beautiful as we shared a candlelit corner in front of the fireplace with a view of the ocean. [26 May 2007 23:11:39]
