Traditional, Family and Vegetarian Chinese This unpretentious moderate-sized family-run restaurant is worth visiting for a casual lunch or dinner. In addition to a traditional Chinese restaurant menu they have vegetarian dishes and seasonal specialties which can be very good. Food is served simply but quickly, hot from the kitchen as mild or spicy as you request (with an old-fashioned kitchen bell to summon wait staff when its ready.)
Portions are reasonable though ask if you intend to share several dishes. There are several family style dinner combos that can be a bargain if they include dishes you want. Special preparation requests, including substitutions, have been accomodated. Service is generally attentive and very friendly. Beer and wine selection is limited but their hot and iced teas are excellent.
The restaurant is clean but there is only one small unisex bathroom. The decorations are a quirky mix and the front windows are partially blocked by curtains and copies of the menu. There is occasionally soft Chinese music playing but usually the restaurant is quiet except for diners talking. The customers are a mix of tourists and locals, with locals more often getting take out at busy times. (They do not offer delivery.)
Overall this restaurant offers a change of pace from the more expensive specialty restaurants on Main street in Murphys. [07 Apr 2007 23:43:19]

Sun China Sucks! We went to this restaurant on a Friday night about 6PM. We should have known it was a bad restaurant by the fact that it was NOT busy at the dinner hour. We ordered 4 different entrees and they were awful! The Sesame Beef had no sesame seeds and a really off flavor. The Mandarin Chicken tasted like dirt! Gritty and a bizzare flavor. The Shrimp Chow Mein had shrimp so small we considered sending them to Ripley's Believe It or Not! And then, the Schezwan Shrimp tasted lousy. The portions were tiny (thank God) as it left less to leave on the table when we walked out! We paid thirty dollars for this meal we could not eat, and the waitress actually had the nerve to ask it wanted to-go boxes. We didn't even take the fortune cookies... they were not wrapped! Will never make this mistake again, and hope you don't either! Oh,oh, oh... can you screw up steamed rice? They did! Hard and crusty... geeze! [05 Jun 2007 17:01:38]
