THE WORST IN THE VALLEY
Living in the Napa Valley, I have a choice of many fine places to eat and normally eat dinner out once a week. This past Saturday my daughter was home from college for the holiday. I decided to take the family out for a nice Saturday evening dinner. I had been to Pasta Prego several years ago and had found it just okay. But decided to give it another shot. I called Friday and made reservations for seven for Saturday at 5:30.

We arrived promptly at 5:25 and saw that our table was set up and ready to go. My entire family includes five children. When the hostess saw the children, she said they just had another party call and they would have to move us to another table. We waited 10 minutes for them to set up another table and decided not to inquire why. The waitress was pleasant enough. She took out order and we never saw her again until our dinners arrived. The owner was walking around from table to table asking about everyone’s dinner. He decided to skip us. We finished our meal and then waited 30 minutes for the bill. The food was just okay. Although the chicken was dry and the pasta was very firm. I did not eat it and fed it to the dog.

Bottom line is Pasta Prego is not friendly, poor service, and poor food. It is also very small. Plus, over $200.00 without wine.

They also have a very smug attitude for a small Bistro in a strip mall next to a Verizon Wireless store, Mc Donald’s and Pizza Hut.

Next Saturday the family will be dining elsewhere. I have lived in Napa my entire life and will gladly pass on my review of Pasta Prego.    [30 Nov 2004 16:57:12]
